Morning TV viewers were appalled when one This Morning guest committed an embarrassing blunder on live TV and managed to confuse two A-list stars without being corrected.

When Alan Johnson confused Kate Winslet with another star, it fell on This Morning viewers to point out his embarrassing mistake, which went completely unnoticed by his co-stars.

The former politician found himself in the middle of a storm on X as he joined presenters Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson this Wednesday, August 7, 2024, to chat about the day’s headlines, which included the Titanic star’s recent admission that she refused to cover up her belly rolls.

This led Alan, 74, to fondly remember how Kate Winslet had once appeared on stage with pop duo Sparks at Glastonbury Festival. But there was an issue as Kate Winslet never made the cameo – Cate Blanchett did in 2023.

Festival goers may remember that the Ocean’s 8 star sported a yellow suit and green glasses when she climbed up the Glastonbury stage to dance to The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte, The Daily Mail reports. To make matters worse, nobody around Alan picked up on the error, leaving ITV viewers at home to shake their heads.

“Alan Johnson desperately trying to sound down with the kids. ‘I’ve loved Kate Winslet since she appeared with Sparks at Glastonbury.’ It was Cate Blanchett actually which none of the other people there picked up on. Absolutely clueless”, one livid fan penned on X, otherwise known as Twitter.

Another echoed: “#ThisMorning Someone tell Alan Johnson that was Cate Blanchett with @sparksofficial at Glastonbury NOT Kate Winslet!.” A third agreed: “Dis information on #thismorning it was Cate Blanchett with Sparks not Kate Winslet.”

“It wasn’t Kate Winslet with Sparks Alan it was cate blanchett'”, another repeated. “#thismorning Alan, it was Cate Blanchett, not Kate Winslet, who came on stage with Sparks at Glastonbury”, one final fan doubled down.

This comes after it was revealed that This Morning will undergo another host shake-up as Craig Doyle he’d be taking a break from his presenting duties, leaving Rylan Clark to take over alongside Josie Gibson.

Craig, pretending to be upset was playfully comforted by Josie and ended up heading over to the Loose Women studio next door during the crossover segment between the two shows.

This Morning announced the replacements for main presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard over the summer last month. The duo aren’t set to return until September 2.
