Love Island was full of awkward scenes on Monday’s final as Sean Stone hinted at a Joey Essex ‘feud’, leaving host Maya Jama stunned
Love Island host Maya Jama had a two-word response as Sean Stone hinted at a Joey Essex ‘feud’ during Monday’s final.
The current series, hosted by Maya, 29, announced the final four couples on Sunday night as Sean and Matilda Draper, Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan, Ayo Odukoya and Jess Spencer and Ciaran Davies and Nicole Samuel. On Monday night, Sean and Matilda finished in third place before Mimii and Josh were crowned the winners.
Speaking during their exit interview, Maya asked Sean about his close friendship with TOWIE star Joey, 33, and how he felt when he realised the TOWIE star had voted him and Matilda ‘least compatible’ during Sunday’s savage twist.
Maya said: “Sean obviously you and Joey had such a solid bromance in the villa… then when he voted for you for ‘least compatible’, it shocked us all, not just you, how did it make you feel?”

Sean admitted: “I was gutted, I can’t lie but you know he had to do what he had to do.” Maya then asked: “Are you not mates again?” with Sean responding: “I don’t know… I haven’t spoke to him yet. It’s his birthday, I won’t ruin it for him.” Issuing a two-word response over the reply, Maya said: “Wow, okay…” before adding: “We can leave that for now!”
Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Joey fuming in the corner #loveisland”, a different account wrote: “Joey is fuming he ain’t in the final #loveisland”, another put: “Joey is fuming. He really wanted to be in the finals #Loveisland”, a different viewer said: “Joey sat there watching wishing he was in that final #LoveIsland” while another added: “Joey looks P****D sitting in the background #loveisland.”

Over the weekend, the Islanders had to vote for two couples who they think are least compatible, texting in their decision. The couples at risk of being dumped were Joey and Jessy, Ayo and Jess, Sean and Matilda, and Josh and Mimii. On Sunday night, a collection of past Islanders from the 2024 series entered the villa and they held the power to decide which couple should be dumped from the Island. After revealing their choice one-by-one, it was revealed that Joey and Jessy had been dumped.
During the decisions, Joey found himself under fire by several Islanders, who accused him of ‘game playing’ while ex Samantha Kenny got her revenge as she accused the TOWIE star of ‘lying’. Speaking in an exit interview, Joey said of leaving the villa with Jessy: “I said during the compatibility vote that I had expected Jessy and I would get votes, so no it didn’t really come as a surprise, and I never expected to win the show.”
