Angel Reese is going viral online after she made WNBA history during Thursday’s showdown between the Chicago Sky and Las Vegas Aces.
While the Sky lost to the Aces, 95-83, Reese extended her impressive double-double streak by putting up 18 points and 11 rebounds.
That’s now the ninth straight game that the Chicago rookie has put up such numbers, making her the youngest player ever to do it.
For those not in the know, Reese already holds the rookie record for the longest double-double streak after surpassing the previous record of six set by Tina Charles (2010) and Cindy Brown (1998).
In their prior showdown with the Indiana Fever, Reese also joined Candace Parker and Sylvia Fowles as the only players to have eight consecutive double-doubles in WNBA history. The former LSU star had 25 points and 16 boards in the said showdown.
Now, she just keeps making milestones
Sure enough, fans were quick to heap praise on Reese as her name exploded on social media. Many even went as far as to saying that she’s the Rookie of the Year.
“Her level of consistency is amazing,” a fan said. A commenter added, “Nice effort, Angel. Guarding the best player A’ja Wilson was hard.”
Another supporter shared, “A legend in the history books of WNBA.”
“Looking at straight basketball, you can’t tell me she ain’t the ROTY?! She’s HOOPING,” a fourth fan declared. Another social media user agreed, “INDISPUTABLE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR.”
Another Sky faithful exclaimed, “Y’all can try to discredit her all you want because you personally don’t like her, but that girl gone be a problem for years to come. She can hold her own against the best of ’em.”
Indeed, it was a performance to remember for Reese.
