Angel Reese has set a high bar for herself in her goal for a hard-nosed reputation in the league (Imagn)
Upon her arrival in the WNBA, it was clear right from the jump that Angel Reese was one of the most competitive rookies to date. With the drive to make a name for herself in the league, the Sky forward has cemented herself as a rookie to pay close attention to.
In her first year, Reese is adamant about her goal to be recognized as a “fierce competitor.” She shared this vision of what she wants to be known for, as per ClutchPoints’ Christopher Smith.
“A fierce competitor,” Reese said, “… I think being able to talk to some of the vets that say, ‘You’re just super consistent. You come out every game and play super hard.’ and I want that to be a known trademark for me. I want that to be known like expectations are high and you can’t take a day off on any given night. …”

While some rookies are already looking forward to breaking records throughout their careers, Reese is already set on shaping how she wants her brand to be as she continues to grow her game.
Angel Reese talked about being the WNBA rookie to have the most consecutive games with a double-double
Back on June 20, Angel Reese was the catalyst in her team’s 83-72 win against the Dallas Wings. In a huge win for Chicago, the Sky forward put up 16 points (53.8% shooting), 18 rebounds and 2 steals.
Aside from the impressive double-double performance, Reese also made history as she passed Dream’s Tina Charles and former Wings forward Cindy Brown as the rookie with the most consecutive games with a double-double performance with seven straight.
After the win, the promising forward was ecstatic in her postgame interview, as per ESPN.
“It’s super exciting for myself,” Reese said. “I try to give myself some grace and tell myself I’m doing a good job, but I have so much more to grow, and I’m just excited to be in this league.”
Reese has since extended her run to 13 straight double-doubles, which is a new WNBA record.
As of now, the Sky are in eighth place in the WNBA standings at 8-12 and are going through some growing pains as a young unit. However, there have been flashes of brilliance with Angel Reese at the forefront of it.
All that remains is for her to continue improving upon her skill set as the upside remains high with what she has shown so far in her rookie year.
