Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese is back in the DMV, set to play the Washington Mystics on Thursday. The first-year player from LSU originally played for Maryland in college before transferring to the Tigers and making a nationwide name for herself.

Reese played two seasons with the Terrapins and finished her college career in Baton Rouge, where she won an NCAA Championship with LSU in 2023.

The 22-year-old was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and committed to playing for her hometown team as the No. 2 player in the 2020 women’s basketball high school rankings.

Moments like that are the true teller of how much the DMV means to Reese. She was offered by top schools across the country but decided to stay planted to start her career in Maryland.

It comes full circle for Reese on Thursday as she plays the Mystics on the professional stage.

Reese had to show her Baltimore pride, rocking custom shoes with the message “Baltimore Barbie,” per Nick DePaula on X. The shoes have the Maryland flag on the side, as well as her signature Barbie nickname, with the “Homecoming” theme, showing a dark and mysterious tone.

The Baltimore native has been phenomenal for the Sky all season. She’s averaged 10.9 points and 9.0 rebounds through Chicago’s 3-5 record. Reese and the Sky will look to snap their two-game losing streak on Thursday against Washington.
