Amanda Abbington made a rare public appearance with her fiancé Jonathan Goodwin and her children Joe and Grace, as the family attended the press night after-party for her play When It Happens To You on Tuesday night in London.

The actress, 50, showed her support for Women’s Aid again, as she sported a red top in apparent support of the domestic abuse charity, alongside her fellow cast members.

She teamed her T-shirt with a pair of blue jeans and black trainers, wearing her hair back in a sleek up-do.

Amanda’s children, who she shares with her ex-husband Martin Freeman, looked to be bursting with pride as they posed for pictures with their mother.

The actress also looked in high spirits at the Park Theatre, despite the Strictly Come Dancing scandal surrounding her allegations against pro Giovanni Pernice.

Grace, 16, opted for a black jumper paired with blue baggy jeans, with Amanda’s son Joe, 18, going for a similar all-black look complete with a chain to accessorize.

Meanwhile, Amanda’s fiancé Jonathan, 44, who she became engaged to within days of meeting in 2021, looked suave in a pastel yellow stripy shirt.

Other snaps from the celebratory evening saw Amanda pose with Scottish actor Bill Paterson, as well as her When It Happens To You cast mates Rosie Day, Miles Molan, and Tok Stephen, and writer Tawni O’Dell.

Amanda’s new play, which is directed by Jez Bond, is set to open to the public on Wednesday.

The actress leads the cast in the thriller and will take on the role of Tara in the true story about a mother trying to hold her family together after a devastating event changes the course of their lives.

The star’s press night outing comes just after the news that police are moving closer to identifying who issued a death threat to the former Strictly Come Dancing star.

MET Police detectives were alerted on Friday afternoon to an email sent to the London theatre where the actress is performing in a new play.

It warned “she should be prepared to die on stage” unless she withdrew her complaint about former pro-partner Giovanni Pernice, which is now the subject of a BBC probe.

The theatre alerted cops, and a source close to the investigation said the police are taking the threat “very seriously” and are working hard towards identifying who sent it. Additionally, Amanda has now been interviewed twice by cops.

The source explained: ‘Specialist officers have been looking at the email closely over the last 72 hours, and now believe they are close to identifying where it was sent from.

‘They are liaising with another force on this now. This, in turn, they hope will go on to lead them to the person behind the threat.

‘Officers have told Amanda they will do all they can to find out who the person is behind the email.

‘They are treating it as a very serious and very credible threat and want to unmask the person behind it.’

And the director behind the new show Amanda is starring in told how she has no plans of walking away.

Artistic Director Jez, told the Mirror: ‘Amanda is determined to continue. Obviously she was shocked and upset, but she will not be intimidated into standing down from the show. She’s incredibly brave and will not be beaten.’
