Strictly Come Dancing fans are convinced they’ve rumbled Tasha Ghouri’s professional partner on the BBC One show after a ‘telling’ clue on Wednesday

Strictly Come Dancing fans are convinced they’ve rumbled Tasha Ghouri’s professional partner on the BBC One show.

Former Love Island star Tasha, 25, who was the first-ever deaf contestant to appear on Love Island in 2022, was announced for the 2024 line-up on Wednesday, joining the likes of Pete Wicks, Toyah Willcox and JB Gill – to name a few – on the dance floor. Strictly Come Dancing announced the news on their official Instagram, tagging Tasha’s social media.

They penned: “@tashaghouri and #Strictly are the perfect match. Please welcome the former Love Islander to the show!” to which the star’s celebrity followers and fans were quick to react to. Strictly pro, Gorka Marquez, led the comments as he penned: “Welcome to Strictly @tashaghouri” with many fans hoping it could mean the duo are paired together. One fan replied: “@gorka_marquez I hope she’s paired with you” while another added: “I would have liked this pairing but she might be too tall for him…”

It remains to be seen who Tasha is partnered with as the pairings are typically revealed in a launch show later in September. The news of Tasha joining Strictly was confirmed today in a huge announcement live on KISS FM. The reality star, who was born deaf and uses a cochlear implant, found fame on the eighth series of ITV2 reality show two years ago, where she met boyfriend Andrew Le Page. Tasha will become the second deaf celebrity to appear on the BBC series when she takes to the dance floor later this year.

“I feel nervous, excited, like I’m about to throw up. It didn’t feel real til I was here now, but I’m so gassed, I’m so excited,” Tasha admitted to KISS Breakfast hosts Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely. Asked which professional partner she would like to be paired with, she said: “I do have a dream of who I would love to be with, I’ve not even met them yet. It would be Jojo (Johannes Radebe), I would love to work with him.”

Speaking to the Diversity dancers on KISS this morning, Tasha – who is rumoured to have once dated former Strictly pro Giovanni Pernice – also addressed potential backlash to her appearing on the show. Before appearing on the eighth series of Love Island, Tasha made her living as a professional dancer. “I’ve not danced in quite a few years now, since Love Island my career is very different. It’s a very different dance style – I may not be good at it. I’m excited for the challenge.”
