But it was Sean Stone and Matilda Draper who were left open-mouthed when they discovered Joey Essex and Jessy Potts’ true thoughts on their relationship.
Sean and Joey had been firm friends throughout the show, so the news came as a shock.
“Sean’s ready to gift Joey them toxic waste sweets and pretend it’s a new version of Skittles after that voting,” one fan wrote.
“Joey just broke Sean’s heart,” said another.
“Sean it’s time to take an easy jet flight out of joey’s arse mate,” wrote a third.
“At least Sean now knows Joey is fake as f***”, said a fourth.
As well as the remaining Love Islanders voting for each other, former contestants also joined the show.
Joey and Jessie were voted off after receiving the majority of the votes.
As they packed their bags, Joey and Sean had a quick chat.
Despite being voted for, Sean gushed over Joey and told him that he wouldn’t have had half the experience he did on the show without him.
“You’ve had my back, you’ve given me confidence. We’ve had the good and the bad, but man to man I really appreciate you,” Sean told Joey.
“But obviously you voted for me..” he added.
Joey explained that he thought that everyone was going to vote for him and Jessy, so they felt they had to pick Sean and Jessie.
Once Joey and Jessy had left the villa, the remaining couples gathered to explain their choices.
Sean sat down with Jess Spencer, who asked how he felt about Joey’s decision.
“I just had a moment where the penny dropped for me,” Sean said.
“I had his back in so many situations and I had his back. I sort of got wrapped up it so much,” he continued.
Jess asked him why he thought Joey picked him and Matilda.
“Basically he thought he was being more vulnerable because he thought he’d have more votes against him and didn’t think we would have many,” Sean explained.
“So the fact about him being called a game player was actually true,” snapped Jess.
“It was all left respectfully, I wasn’t going to get aggy about it,” Sean replied.
