Craig Doyle says he does not speak to Phillip Schofield anymore as presenter’s comeback ‘imminent’

This Morning presenter Craig Doyle has revealed he doesn’t speak to disgraced former co-star Phillip Schofield following his shock departure from the ITV show last year

This Morning’s Craig Doyle has revealed he no longer speaks to disgraced presenter Phillip Schofield.

The former host, 61, is set to make a huge TV comeback this year, following his exit from showbiz in 2023. It came after he admitted to having an “unwise but not illegal” affair and his fall out with long-time pal Holly Willoughby. He was recently spotted out and about with Declan Donnelly, and has been making a cautious return to social media by posting infrequently about his pup.

Craig joined This Morning back in 2022 and became a regular host alongside Holly following Phillip’s shock exit. He has now opened up on both stars leaving the show as he revealed he hasn’t spoken to Phil. Craig shared: “I spoke to Holly recently, and she’s in great form and she’s about to go off on her travels somewhere.

“She had a really traumatic time and it was scary for her, that stalker business, but she’s good and happy.” The presenter added to Woman magazine: “I haven’t spoken to Phil, just because I haven’t been around, but I wish him well – I wish them all well.” Craig also reflected on working with Phil as he said it was like “sitting having a coffee with a friend”.

He added that “all of them [on the show] have that vibe” and that even though “people have their views on different people”, he “found them all great”. Just last week, Phillip commented “loving life”, as he posted a photo of his new puppy Alfie. Phillip admitted to an affair with a younger colleague last year, which saw his reputation was severely damaged.

The presenter kept a low profile and stayed away from social media. He admitted lying to his family and bosses about the relationship, appearing for atell-all BBC interviewin which he confessed his daughter saved his life. Saying he felt ‘broken and ashamed’, the dad-of-two stepped away from the limelight and spent time with his parents in Cornwall.

Lorraine Kelly, who stands by him, told The Sunday Times Magazine earlier this year: “I was heartbroken when all that happened. It’s just a shame for the amazing career that he’s had, for it to end like that.” Crisis management pro Edward Coram James, CEO of Go Up, told the Mirror recently: “It’s hardly surprising that Schofield is now considering a comeback, and that producers and networks may be lining up to make him job offers.

“There are many ways that Schofield could have reacted that could have cemented his fate for the worse. Instead, his behaviour during and after the scandal is a textbook example of how people should act in the face of PR disaster. It’s a feat that very few manage to pull off. But it’s given Schofield the opportunity for a second chance.”

Phillip is believed to have reached out to former co-star of 14 years Holly after she became the target of a kidnap and murder plot.. It was revealed that Phil allegedly contacted Holly after being “horrified” by the news, with Holly said to have been “really happy” to have heard from him. “Phil’s decision to reach out, and the welcome it has been received with by Holly, shows that there is still a bond there,” a source told the Mirror. “The hope is they can regain some of the ground lost, and support each other again.”
