As Tom King’s controlling behaviour disturbingly escalated into faking a robbery, Emmerdale fans are convinced that the villainous vet may have sealed his own downfall

Emmerdale villain Tom King may have sealed his own fate on the soap, after the scheming vet made a crucial error while trying to manipulate his wife Belle Dingle for daring to have a life outside of their marriage. As regular viewers will know, Belle is currently the unfortunate victim of her husband Tom’s escalating coercive control, which so far has seen him ridicule, isolate and gaslight his wife for wanting to pursue a career and spend time with her family, instead of dedicating all her time to him.

Clearly unhappy with other people monopolising her time, Tom has repeatedly been cruel to Belle whenever she stood up for herself and even tricked her into believing she was the one at fault in order to manipulate a situation until he got his own way. In the latest episode of the soap however, Tom took things one step further when he staged a break-in to punish her for staying out with Suzy after a successful day at work.

Belle had gone out for drinks with her business partner and a few friends after work and was talked into staying out later than intended, something which left her visibly shaken as she had promised Tom she would go straight home to look at their wedding photos together.

Scolding his wife for cancelling plans with him, Tom then turned on the charm to pretend he was fine with the situation and even encouraged her to stay out with her friends, despite knowing that all hell would break loose when she headed home.

Once back at home, Tom let loose his rage and trashed the house while smashing everything in sight to pieces in a jealousy fuelled rage. Later, when Belle returned and stumbled onto the horrific scene at home, Tom decided to cover his tracks by declaring that there had been a break-in.

To make matters worse, Tom also claimed that Belle’s wedding and engagement rings had been stolen, despite him pocketing them himself and laying the guilt on thick in order to make her feel as bad as possible. In an unexpected twist however, Suzy realised that something didn’t quite add up in the alleged ‘robbery’, especially as very little had been stolen.

Claiming he had reported the matter to the police, it was clear that Tom was lying and fans are now convinced that Tom’s lacklustre lies will soon be catching up with him, especially if he tries to dispose of Belle’s rings which would automatically tie him to the crime.

A fourth then wrote: “Tom will make out that Belle is the controlling one – just wait & see. The Dingles and the rest of the villagers will believe him because, oh, he loves the bones of her. How many times is she going to say I’m sorry? FFS! She’s falling straight into his trap.”

Before a fifth concluded: “Tom really doesn’t know who he’s messing about with her. He might think it’s just little timid Belle. When the dingles find out they will bury him.. Cain, Aaron, Charity, Chas to name a few.”
