Dermot O’Leary made his return to the set of This Morning full of energy this Wednesday, as he wreaked havoc alongside co-host Alison Hammond minutes into the show.
Dermot O’Leary caused chaos as he made his long-awaited TV return.
The presenter, 51, was back at the helm of ITV’s This Morning this Wednesday, July 24, 2024, taking back his hosting duties from Joel Dommett after two days of absence.
Viewers were surprised when the breakfast staple began with beatboxing group The Beatbox Collective reprising the show’s opening theme tune.
Dermot’s co-star Alison Hammond, 49,then stunned as she revealed her hidden talent, delivering her own catchy rap along with the group. It was clear the high energy was contagious when Dermot couldn’t stand still and kicked a table in the studio.

“We are with you right through to 12.30”, Dermot first said, clearly fidgety seconds before the incident. Alison was left chuckling the accident as she responded, imitating her co-star: “oh hello, let’s keep walking.”
Dermot prolonged the laughter by lashing out even further at the furniture around him and the pair introduced the day’s biggest headlines in stitches as he jokingly yelled: “let me tell you what show we’ve got for you!”
This comes after Joel Dommett stepped in for Dermot O’Leary on Monday and Tuesday, as the presenter took a short break from the show, which he hosts as regular stars Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard enjoy their own break until September.
Viewers had mixed opinions over Joel’s This Morning debut as they lamented over Dermot’s unexplained absence and many threatened to switch channels minutes into the show.
One person fumed on social media: “Think I’ll go out with these two presenting. Have a word itv! #thismorning. Another shared the same sentiment, adding: “Switch off – Christ not these 2 together I’m off #thismorning.” As a third complained: “Joel’s voice is already starting to grate…” (sic)
Meanwhile, others seemed to be enjoying the presenting combination as they hailed ITV for putting the two together. “2 minutes in and Alison Hammond and Joel Dommett already making me laugh, this is going to be a good show! Good luck to the producer today, it’s going to be chaos!”
Joel, who was forbidden to take part in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing by his wife, is a regular face on ITV as he has also stood in for Lorraine Kelly on her eponymous daytime programme.
