Ruth Langsford fronted Loose Women on Monday alongside Myleene Klass, Gloria Hunniford and Linda Robson

As the Loose Women panel were discussing “embarrassing” encounters, Ruth Langsford made a rare admission about her son Jack – who she shares with Eamonn Holmes.

She recalled: “When Jack was young, we used to… I always had music on and we would dance around the kitchen, and if we were in a supermarket and a song came on, I’d always pretend to get the band’s name wrong, so I’d go, ‘Oh, it’s Twizzle Sticks’, I love them.”

As the presenter showed off some dance moves, she went on: “He used to think I was really funny and I just remember one day saying…doing exactly that like I have always done and I was like, ‘Jack, look Twizzle Sticks our favourite’ and he was like, ‘Oh mum stop it, you’re so embarrassing’.

“You know at that moment. don’t you? ‘Oh I have lost him’ and then he went through a phase of literally he would come in and I’d go, ‘Morning’ and he’d go, ‘What?'”

Ruth pulled a face as she continued to mimic her son, she remembered asking him: “‘Do you want some breakfast’ [and he’d say] ‘Ugh, no!'”

“We suffer it on Loose Women where people think ‘Aw the Loose Women are always falling out’. It’s almost as if people can’t accept that a woman can get along with a woman,” Ruth shared.

“I’m not saying there can’t be catty women, but there are also catty men and b****y men too.”

She added: “I think with my friends, I’ve got girlfriends from school and they were with me recently and they are my 4am friends.

“I wouldn’t have toxic friends and over the years I haven’t had a full-blown fall out but I just distance myself from people when I start to feel that it’s becoming toxic or jealousy or catty.”

Myleene weighed in: “I think it’s so lazy to make that kind of comment. It’s just women being put against women and it’s never done to men. I couldn’t disagree more because my girlfriends are my absolute rock through divorce, miscarriage and everything.

“I call them my 4am because there are some girlfriends I know I can rely on to ring at 4am. I had one girlfriend who knocked on my door at 2am because she didn’t hear from me.”
