EXCLUSIVE: Victoria Beckham has never been in a better place, especially when it comes to life with her husband, David – and a source has said she has a set of rules so that they ‘never slip’
Victoria Beckham is, by anyone’s standards, in a great place right now. She has a blossoming fashion empire, a happy, close-knit family – and a handsome ex-professional football star for a husband, with whom she celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary last month, during a dreamy holiday in Corsica.
Indeed, as the star opened up in a recent interview (Hollywood star Nicole Kidman spoke to her for Vogue Australia), the former Spice Girl, 50, admitted emotionally that 25 years of marriage to David feels like ‘such an achievement’.
She added that, now the kids are getting older and fleeing the nest, “myself and David are in the next chapter… it definitely feels like that next chapter of our lives together.”
And, according to a source, part of this exciting new chapter in their lives, with more consolidated time with each other despite their busy careers, has seen Victoria set down some rules for David to follow when it comes to keeping their relationship alive.
They claimed to OK!, “They both have so much going on at the moment – and Victoria has started making new rules for David to make sure nothing slips. This involves at least two date nights a month, a weekend away, just the two of them, every six weeks and one big holiday a year with no expense spared and they both switch off their phones.”
The source added, “Victoria’s rules also include surprise romantic gestures like little presents, flowers or jewellery, no work or kids talk when they go out; getting dressed up for each other and making an effort – and being open and honest with each other when they’re stressed or annoyed with each other.”

Despite her being at the pinnacle of her career and clearly in a wonderful place in her personal life, our source claims that the glamorous mum of four can’t help but have a ‘nagging feeling’ that something could go wrong and ruin this perfect set-up. So, she is making sure that she protects the wonderful life she has – particularly when it comes to David.
They explained, “Victoria is adamant that never wants the romance to slip. It has done in the past – and she is determined they won’t fall into that trap again.
“It may all sound simple but she knows what makes their marriage stronger and over the past 25 years, they’ve been at their happiest when they put each other and their marriage first.
“They’ve both been guilty of neglecting each other and she doesn’t want to go through those stresses again. As they both get older, she doesn’t want any more drama.”

Of course, any such drama is well in the past, but at the time it must have been painful – as Victoria emotionally disclosed in the four-part docuseries, Beckham – it’s no wonder she wants to protect her little bubble of contentment now, as it has been hard earned.
Opening up about her husband’s alleged affairs in 2003, when Victoria and the couple’s children were living in the UK, while David was in Spain with his soccer team, Real Madrid, Victoria said that she “resented” husband David after his alleged infidelity.
Though she does not directly reference either of the two women, Rebecca Loos and Sarah Marbeck, who came forward that year and alleged that they’d had affairs with David. Victoria sadly called that period in her life “the most unhappy I’ve ever been.”
Thankfully, the couple survived that storm – and these days, she seems to adore everything about her homelife with David.

As Victoria admitted in the recent interview, she ‘loves’ spending time with him and is still ‘very much in love with him’, adding poignantly, “Me and David can go away, just the two of us, and laugh and enjoy that time, and I think that’s so rare after so many years. It’s a pinch-me moment every day.”
David confessed sweetly in the Beckham documentary that he was so smitten with wife Victoria when they first started dating that he would drive for hours to see her and be on the phone to her almost constantly. It seems that, two decades on, very little has changed.
As part of their ‘new chapter’, Victoria said the couple need to ‘make new friends, get out more, say yes’, adding, ‘We as a couple have to find our next step in the world and not just based on us doing stuff as a family.’ ”
Celebrating their 25th anniversary last month, the couple delighted fans, posting some touching Instagram tributes, including one from Victoria that featured snaps of their 1999 wedding cake, Victoria’s Vera Wang dress and David on a plane with loved ones. Here’s to another 25 years of married bliss for this gorgeous pair, as they explore this new phase in their lives.
