Angel Reese urged LSU to “keep believing” after the Tigers set a program record for points scored in an SEC game in a crushing victory over Florida.

Reese took to Instagram and called on her teammates to continue to deliver such emphatic results following a two-game losing run. Reese re-posted a graphic celebrating the win over Florida while writing: “We just have to keep believing.”

On Sunday, LSU secured a 106-66 win over unranked Florida to snap a two-game losing run and get its season back on track. The Tigers had suffered back-to-back losses – to South Carolina and Mississippi State – for the first time in two years before returning to winning ways against the Gators.

LSU had six players hit double-figures in scoring. Hailey Van Lith led the way with a season-high 21 points while Mikaylah Williams matched her teammate, who was an efficient 6-11 from the field and 9-10 from the line alongside seven rebounds.

Aneesah Morrow and Reese combined for 32 points and 30 of LSU’s remarkable 59 rebounds. Morrow dominated as she tallied her 14th double-double of the season with 18 points and a season-high 20 boards, while Reese scored 14 points and hauled in 10 boards for her 13th double-double this season.

LSU’s 106 points were the most scored in an SEC game in program history, surpassing the 103 points the Tigers scored against Alabama in 2004. Flau’Jae Johnson and Aalyah Del Rosario were the other two Tigers to reach double figures in scoring with 10 and 11, respectively.

LSU dominated the boards, tallying an impressive 18 offensive rebounds that led to 24 second-chance points. Defensively, LSU suffocated Florida, who only had two players put up double-digit points but both Aliyah Matharu (20 points) and Leilani Correa (13) did so fairly inefficiently.

“I thought you saw a team today that brought it,” LSU head coach Kim Mulkey said. “It wasn’t smooth, it started out rough, but they brought another level of intensity. They had a fire in their belly defensively. I was very pleased with how they responded.”

The 20-4 Tigers face 17-5 Vanderbilt in their next game on Thursday, Feb. 8 in Nashville, Tennessee. Mulkey has won at least 20 games in every season she has been a head coach and can reach that mark for this season with a win over the Commodores.
