The royals were said to be terrified when The Sun revealed that he was in the reality show

PRINCESS Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith has hit out at Prince Harry over slurs on his niece and the Royal Family.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Gary insisted he could never do anything to upset “beautiful” Kate, and slammed claims against her of racism as “bull***t”.

The royals and Middleton family were said to be terrified when The Sun revealed in January that he was in the reboot of the reality show, which launched tonight on ITV1.

But Gary, brother to Kate’s mum Carole, said of his niece: “She’s beautiful on the outside, but more beautiful on the inside and really is a doting mum . . . so the way the monarchy is moving, it’s family-centric.

“That’s why I got so upset with Harry and Meghan because you don’t put a stick into that spoke and reinvent history.

“I’ve got pretty miffed when they had a pop at my beautiful niece who couldn’t say anything for herself.

“I think everyone felt the same about how much did we love Harry and then throwing your family under the bus just seemed inappropriate, especially what was happening with the Queen. I just thought it was totally unnecessary.”

Gary, 58, said he was incensed at racism claims against Kate.

In the Dutch translation of his book Endgame, writer Omid Scobie alleged that King Charles and the Princess of Wales had asked Meghan and Harry what colour son Archie’s skin might be.

Gary added: “It’s absolute bull***t and I didn’t hide my feelings very well when I was offered the opportunity to say something, I just thought I’d say it as I saw it. I did think I caught the tone of nation.

“Kate is 100 per cent not racist, neither is Carole. My family is not racist and for Kate to be portrayed as that is just so far removed from the truth, it’s ridiculous.”

It’s just one of many revelations which Gary is expected to divulge during his three weeks in CBB.

On tonight’s launch show, hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, he was seen going into the house with a string of other famous faces.

They include the X Factor judges Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne, telly host Fern Britton and Love Island winner Ekin Su Culculoglu. Gary, the four-times married “black sheep” of the Middletons insisted he hates the stress placed on his family, in particular his sister and Kate.

The Princess of Wales has been out of sight since Christmas Day as she recovers from abdominal surgery.

Gary said: “I’ve spoken to Carole just to send my love and we talked about Kate given what’s going on.

“There’s lots going on in the family at the moment. So she’s spinning a lot of plates right now, it’s quite stressful. So the last thing I’m going to do is bring any stress to them.”

But he’s proved himself a loose cannon in the past. The businessman, who had Kate as a bridesmaid at his first wedding in 1991 and a guest at his second in 1997, made £30million after launching an IT company but it later became mired in scandal.

In 2009 he was caught racking up cocaine for a sex worker in Ibiza.

And he dodged prison when found guilty of hitting fourth wife, Julie-Ann, in a drunken row.

Gary said: “I haven’t really looked after myself very much and I made some pretty bad decisions. But I do try to be the best version of me, but it’s not always the case.

“I think it’s easy to have a potshot. I didn’t choose to be in the spotlight. It gets thrown at you.

“Once you’ve done something it’s there and everyone’s looking. So this (Celebrity Big Brother) is the first bit of upside and fun from all of that.

“Turning 50 I decided I’m going to say no to pretty much nothing these days and just enjoy life to the full.

“I’m not actually a celebrity, it just happens that I am related to one of the biggest. I just thought it’d be a hoot! Also, I think I’m portrayed as this sort of villain and I’m not.

“So it’d be nice to show the other side of me.”

But he admits he likes to stir things up.

4 WIVES, TATTOOS…& LOTS OF CASH

By WILL BARKER

PRINCESS Kate’s scandalous millionaire uncle has been married four times and become the family’s black sheep.

Gary Goldsmith made a fortune in IT recruitment, selling his business Computer Futures for £17million in 2005. Now he is being paid a big fee to take part in Celebrity Big Brother.

The heavily-tattooed 58-year-old pleaded guilty in 2017 after assaulting his fourth wife Julie-Ann outside their central London home.

He was handed a £5,000 fine and ordered into alcohol rehabilitation.

Prince William spent a holiday with Kate at Goldsmith’s eight-acre hideaway in Ibiza, called Maison de Bang Bang, in 2006.

In a 2013 interview, Gary said: “People like to think I’m this black sheep, a bad boy. I’m not really. I’ve had my moments. I’ve got a good heart. I care about people.”

Gary said: “I’m bit antagonistic. I like just prodding people. My favourite hobby is when I’m on an aircraft where people are asleep, waking them up and saying, ‘It’s a long flight you should get some shut-eye’.
