Gwyneth Paltrow has sent a surprise message of support to the Princess of Wales following the royal’s triumphant return to public life over the weekend.

The Princess of Wales, 42, joined the Royal Family for the Trooping the Colour celebrations on Saturday – after revealing in a statement she has ‘good days and bad days’ of chemotherapy treatment.

On Saturday evening, the Prince and Princess of Wales posted a series of images on Instagram and thanked fans for ‘making it a day to remember’.

The post – which featured a picture of William, Kate and their children on the Buckingham Palace balcony – has amassed over 1.4m Instagram ‘likes’ and received a gushing comment from Gwyneth Paltrow.

The actress – who is friends with Meghan Markle –  addressed the Princess and wrote: ‘So happy to see you looking so happy and well.’

The mother-of-two signed off her comment, which has been ‘liked’ by over 5,300 users, with a red love heart emoji.

In May 2023, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were reported to have enjoyed a meal at a Michelin-star sushi restaurant in Montecito with Gwyneth Paltrow and her TV producer husband Brad Fulchuk.

The royal couple were also joined by Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden, who is the lead guitarist in the band Good Charlotte.

Meghan Markle’s evening out with Gwyneth Paltrow came just weeks after the Duchess’ trademark request for The Tig was approved, meaning she could bring back her lifestyle blog. It was also the first time Prince Harry had been spotted after spending just 28 hours in the UK for King Charles’ coronation.

Off the back of this, speculation was rife that Meghan’s site could rival Gwyneth’s multi-million dollar company Goop.

Meghan first launched the website – which she branded as her ‘passion project’ – in 2014, and for three years, she used it as her personal blog, where she discussed everything from food and travel to fashion and politics.

What’s more, Gwyneth was among the first celebrities to send her well-wishes to the Princess of Wales in March after the royal revealed she is receiving treatment for cancer in an emotional video message.

Describing the Princess as a ‘pillar of grace and strength’, Gwyneth commented on the Instagram post: ‘Sending love.’

On Friday night, the Princess of Wales released a moving personal statement on her cancer treatment.

The royal said: ‘I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months.

‘It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.’

It continued: ‘I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.

‘On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.

The Princess then went on to say she was ‘learning to be patient, especially with uncertainty’.

She signed off the statement with: ‘Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.’

Over the weekend, Meghan Markle sent a new batch of jam and dog biscuits from her brand American Riviera Orchard to polo player Nacho Figueras.

The Duke and Duchess’ close friend posted a photo of his PR package on Instagram – just hours before Kate’s return to public life.
