Caitlin Clark is officially taking her talents to the WNBA and fans quickly took to their keyboards and started looking for one particular thing.

According to Front Office Sports, search traffic for the WNBA’s Indiana Fever spiked following Clark’s announcement. The WNBA franchise saw a particular surge in traffic from one state: Iowa.

“Web searches for the Indiana Fever—who have the #1 pick—have spiked after Caitlin Clark declared for the WNBA Draft. The top subregion: Iowa,” the outlet posted on X.

The Indiana Fever went 18-58 over the past two seasons, securing the top odds in the draft lottery and ultimately the top pick.

Judging by a post the Fever made within mere minutes of Clark’s announcement, the Fever seem to already know that they’re going to use the pick on her.

But just because the Fever have been the WNBA’s worst team over the past two seasons, it doesn’t mean that they’re completely devoid of talent. Aliyah Boston won WNBA Rookie of the Year and WNBA All-Star honors while veteran Kelsey Mitchell also earned a spot in the All-Star Game.

Iowa fans should be thrilled not just because Clark is going to the WNBA, but because she’ll be reasonably accessible for fans to see her games in person. At 360 miles from Iowa City, Indianapolis is the third-closest WNBA city to their state.

That alone could provide a major boost to Fever attendance in 2024.

The 2024 WNBA Draft takes place on April 15 at Brooklyn Academy of Music.
