Britain’s Got Talent returned on Saturday night for its highly-anticipated 17th series with one act set to be crowned the 2024 winner, securing a place at the Royal Variety Performance and receiving £250,000

Britain’s Got Talent returned on Saturday night for its highly-anticipated 17th series.

During the latest instalment, judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli were back as they gave their thoughts on each act auditioning. Also back were hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, hosting the auditions and providing much entertainment to viewers.

For the first audition, RASK AI auditioned, where they used cameras and artificial intelligence to transform the four judges into film characters from The Greatest Showman, where they performed the title track from the 2017 musical movie. The judges were left completely stunned to see themselves up on the stage while the group said: “We are here mainly because of the huge misconcept that AI is some sort of alien robot that will steal your job and stuff like that.”

Giving their feedback, Amanda quipped: “But it just did! They’re gonna sit here for the final” while Simon added: “That was really really good. And it did feel original and it did feel different and it was brilliant!” However, show watchers were quick to complain as they admitted they were sick of seeing acts use The Greatest Showman for their auditions as the film came out seven years ago.

Never seen that before. Seriously, this film came out ages ago! #BGT.”

Elsewhere, other show watchers were left divided over the use of AI with one writing: “this is ridiculous it’s not a talent? it’s just four people with ai ? #BGT”, another person put: “That’s hardly talent…. its a bit of miming with some sort of AI camera stuff…. #britainsgottalent #bgt” while a different viewer added: “Just caught the first act of #bgt… how is AI a talent may I ask?”

However, another show watcher said: “Amazing what AI can do! #BGT#BritainsGotTalent”, a different account put: “They’re good singers, and the AI thing IS funny #BGT #BritainsGotTalent” while another added: “They were funny! #BGT” with a laughing emoji.
