The last episode of Saturday Night Takeaway was thrown into disarray – because Ant McPartlin wouldn’t stop laughing.

Rehearsals ground to a halt because the host was left in hysterics over Jordan North terrible singing and dancing. Ant couldn’t keep it together as the new Capital FM presenter tried his very best and they needed a break as filming had to be halted for a while as he pulled himself together.

‌Hapless Jordan also revealed that they also had to bring in the Strictly Come Dancing choreographer for him to learn how to clap in time as he told Sian Welby and Chris Stark all about it as listeners heard the details behind the Saturday Night Takeaway singing ‘Celebration’.

Jordan said on this morning’s show: “I made the boys (Ant & Dec) promise me that I didn’t have to sing…they did. I had to the sing at the end of the show.” Sian then said: “Chris if you did miss this, he sort of takes it on as a musical theatre role. And so he sort of speaks it.”

The trio then watched a clip of him in action. “It’s not a chant!” Chris bit back. “Why are you doing it like that?” Jordan told him: “Because I was nervous and I can’t sing, so in rehearsal right on Friday, Ant couldn’t stop, we had to stop one of the rehearsals because Ant couldn’t stop laughing!

“He even said to a girl ‘he can’t even clap in time!’ I had to get some choreographer who usually works on Strictly, to stop the rehearsal to show me how to clap in time. Because everyone was clapping and I was on beat behind them, honestly. I have no rhythm at all.”

After the cameras stopped rolling on the final ever Saturday Night Takeaway, the stars of the show hosted a raucous afterparty which became the hottest ticket in town this weekend. There were plenty of celebrities in the vicinity already after the pair invited a host of their ITV chums to celebrate their milestone show with them.

Ant and Dec had both choked back tears as they said an emotional farewell to their 20th series but as the audience left the iconic studios, the likes of Simon Cowell, Alison Hammond, Davina McCall, Rylan Clark and Girls Aloud headed backstage at White City to send off the boys in style.

Ant told viewers: “Saturday Night Takeaway is the kind of show Dec and I watched every Saturday growing up, so it’s been an honour and a privilege to have made the show and to have been part of your Saturday nights for over 20 years.” Dec then added: “When we started this back in 2002, we thought we’d be lucky if we got to do this for maybe a couple of years, so what’s happened has honestly been beyond our wildest dreams.

“We have truly adored every second of making the show, but there’s one thing we’ve never ever forgotten, and that’s the fact it’s not our show – it’s your show. So we’d like to say a massive thank you to you, our incredible audience.”
