Prince William reportedly enjoyed a trip to the pub with his mother-in-law as he spends time with his family following his wife Kate’s cancer news.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been spending the Easter break with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis as they adjust to Kate’s cancer diagnosis. The form of cancer has not been disclosed, but the future queen began a course of preventative chemotherapy late in February, and is said to have a positive mindset for her recovery and is in good spirits, describing herself as “well and getting stronger every day”.

The timing of her announcement came as her children began their Easter holidays from school and the family has been spending time at their country retreat of Amner Hall in Norfolk. And according to the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden column, William popped into a pub in North Norfolk at the weekend along with Kate’s mum Carole.
His mother-in-law has reportedly been staying with the Wales family during the Easter break and a pub customer told the publication: “It was all very low-key, with no great fanfare. He just walked in and through the pub. He appeared to be with Carole Middleton.” However, Kate reportedly did not join them. Kensington Palace declined to comment.
News of the pub trip comes after William interrupted his Easter break to send a personal message on social media yesterday marking his first public words since Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis.

He took to social media to react to the news that England Lioness Rachel Daly, has decided to retire from international football. The 32-year-old Aston Villa striker won 84 caps for England and was part of the European Championship-winning side in 2022, where she started every game in the tournament.
Rachel revealed her news on social media and on X, formerly Twitter, she shared a series of photos representing her country with the caption: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” And William, the president of the Football Association and a huge Villa supporter shared the post, writing: “Thank you for so many unforgettable performances with @Lionesses, @RachelDaly3. Plenty more goals for Villa now!” The post ended with the letter W, denoting it was a personal tweet from the prince.
The message comes as William continues to balance supporting his wife and family and maintaining his official duties as he has done since her operation in January. The prince is due to return to public duties after his children return to school following the Easter break. It is not known how long Kate will be receiving treatment but it is understood she may be keen to attend events as and when she feels able to, in line with medical advice, although this will not indicate a return to full-time duties.
Meanwhile, Kate has surprised several royal fans with a ‘beautiful’ gesture – just weeks after revealing her cancer diagnosis. When news of her surgery was made public in mid-January, well-wishers from around the globe sent get-well messages and cards to Kate sending their best wishes. And over the past few days, many have taken to social media to show the replies being sent to them from Kensington Palace on behalf of the princess.
In the hours after Kate announced her cancer news, both she and William were said to be “enormously touched” and “extremely moved” by the public’s warmth and support. A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: “The prince and princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message.
“They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time.”
