A video claiming Taylor Swift’s schoolmates disliked her when she began to rise to fame has gone viral, causing bad blood and a backlash with her furious fanbase

There seems to be ‘bad blood’ between Taylor Swift and a former high school attendee, with a viral TikTok video causing outrage among her fans.

Jessica McLane revealed that the pair attended the same school just as the songstress’s career began to take off. Taking to the video-sharing platform, she made a bold claim about what fellow students thought of her.

In the video, that rubbed Swifties up the wrong way, she told how they both grew up in the same town and attended the same school. While she prefaced her post admitting she didn’t know too much about the critically acclaimed star, she said they attended Hendersonville High School in Tennessee in the US at the same time.

In the now viral video, she said: “In 2006, I’m a freshman in high school. Taylor is I think a junior. ‘Teardrops on my Guitar’ had just come out I think over the summer.

“Obviously, she got really big, and that’s the year that she left school and got homeschooled.” She then revealed that when Swift’s music career began to take off and she was becoming ‘super successful’, her popularity at school began to plummet.

Suggesting most of her classmates ‘hated her,’ she said: “She’s like, literally 16, 17, leaving high school to pursue a career that people were telling her that she could never have.” She continued: “Also the guys that she was writing these songs about, they were still in school, they were still there.

“Now they have a hit song about them talking about what a s****y boyfriend they are.” However, it seems that the Cruel Summer hitmaker had the last laugh after McLane revealed she invited all of her former classmates to the CMA Awards in 2009.

With her comments fanning the flames of Taylor Swift’s fandom, many were swift to jump to her defence, with one writing: “Even if Taylor’s Dad was financially privileged enough to leverage her career, no amount of money will grant you talent and staying power.”

Another fan commented: “The best revenge to your haters and naysayers is….success. And she showed you all that in spades,” while one said: “Because she got to have the life that every girl dreamed of having an couldn’t and she did it in a badass way.”

One backed up Taylor by saying: “ Sagittarius energy. We forgive but WE NEVER FORGET.” One of the world ’s best-selling musicians with 200 million records sold, the shrewd songstress is the highest-grossing female touring act and, according to Forbes, the pop music supernova is also the first billionaire with music as her main source of income, joining the ‘three-comma club’ at the end of last year. Not only that, but she is also ranked 34 of America’s richest self-made women.

Her latest album ‘The Tortured Poets’ Department’, which launched in April of this year, is the 11th studio album from the 34-year-old acclaimed singer and songwriter.
