Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Plum faced off on Tuesday, with the latter getting the better of the standout rookie.
Plum scored a season-high 34 points on 11-of-20 shooting as the Las Vegas Aces pulled away for an 88-69 victory over the Indiana Fever in front of more than 20,000 fans at T-Mobile Arena.
Clark scored 13 points, dished out 11 assists and grabbed six rebounds, but struggled with her shot on the evening. She and Plum matched up head-to-head quite a bit, and the fellow No. 1 overall picks shared a funny moment as time wound down.
Plum reached out to shake Clark’s hand on the court, but the first-year guard playfully backed away, giggling. They eventually embraced.

Clark, who broke Plum’s NCAA women’s basketball career scoring record as a senior at Iowa, will have the chance to face off against the Aces star when she and the rest of the Team WNBA All-Stars face Plum and the U.S. women’s national team in Phoenix on July 20.
Clark is one of three Fever players to make the WNBA squad, along with guard Kelsey Mitchell and center Aliyah Boston.
“We’ll be on the same team and at least have each other,” Clark said. “It shows the talent we have … the future is bright.”
