Former LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese unofficially started her WNBA career on Wednesday as she sat down for her introductory press conference.

Reese was the No. 7 overall pick by the Chicago Sky in the WNBA Draft earlier this month. The expectation is that she’ll be the franchise’s future star, but that’s not exactly a guarantee.

Those new to the WNBA game might not be aware how difficult it is to make a WNBA roster, even for top-10 picks. Reese has her work cut out for her, and she’s ready to prove she’s worthy of a roster spot.

Reese is getting praised for sharing an incredibly classy message at her Chicago Sky introductory press conference on Wednesday. To summarize, she’s well aware of how rare of an opportunity she’s getting, and she doesn’t want to let the Sky down.

“Everybody doesn’t get this opportunity. … I don’t want my spot taken,” Reese said.

Well done, Angel.

Fans are loving the message she shared to start her WNBA career.

The Chicago Sky play their first preseason game of the year on May 4 against the Lynx. The expectation is that Reese will make the roster, but she’ll have to prove her worth during the preseason.

Does Reese have what it takes to make Chicago’s regular-season roster?
