CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland Browns’ home game against the Kansas City Chiefs is still seven months away, but already the chatter is alive on whether Taylor Swift will be in town for the Dec. 15 game.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, a native of Cleveland Heights destined eventually for the NFL’s Hall of Fame, will be making a homecoming. But will Taylor Swift, the second half of America’s favorite couple, be in town to cheer her boyfriend?

The Chiefs will play the Browns at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Dec. 15, a date that fits neatly into a break in Swift’s schedule for her record-breaking Eras Tour.

Tour dates are scheduled for every month into December, with the last one set for Dec. 8 at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia. So assuming the couple is still a couple, a trip to Cleveland could very well be in the offing.

The couple captured attention last year first with a buzz over whether they could be a couple, and then with Swift showing up at football games to cheer on Kelce.

The impact was immediate.

Attention on Swift already was at stratospheric levels during her record-breaking eras tour. After the megastar’s relationship with Kelce became public, television broadcasts riveted their cameras on luxury boxes, quick to show Swift’s reaction to Kelce’s success on the field.

A driving question during the hype for the Super Bowl was whether Swift would fly to Las Vegas in between her Eras Tour stops in Japan.

Off the field, sales of Kelce’s jersey spiked by 400% and fans flocked to “Tayvis” accounts on Instagram and on X, formerly Twitter.

The Chiefs are one of the NFL’s biggest draws on television. This year the league parceled out the team’s games among all four of its major TV partners.

But the league insists it didn’t consider Swift’s tour dates as it made up the schedule … although some did wonder.

Several competing factors can affect the scheduling process, from keeping the television partners happy, to maintaining a competitive balance for teams, to stadium availability.

But despite some wild conjecture, the NFL didn’t look to put Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs near one of the tour spots for Swift, Mike North, the NFL’s vice president for broadcast planning, told The Associated Press.

Never mind that the Chiefs will play in Buffalo on Nov. 17 amidst Swift’s six concert appearances in nearby Toronto on Nov. 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23.

“I saw a lot of conspiracy theorists talking about Kansas City at Buffalo middle of the season, right when Taylor’s playing Toronto,” North said. “That one definitely did not hit our radar screen.”
