Another of music’s greatest of all time is paying tribute to three of America’s greatest athletes of all time.
Taylor Swift narrates a new promo video for NBC Olympics in primetime, paying tribute to Team USA’s finest who all medaled in Paris: gymnast Simone Biles, swimmer Katie Ledecky and sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson.
Swift’s single “Style,” from the re-released version of her album “1989,” plays alongside her narration in the minute-long clip.
“Never be afraid to show them who you are,” the singer says. “Especially when the whole world is watching. Because there’s no one way to be the best. No one way to inspire everyone else who will someday follow. You do what you love. You love what you do. You believe in your style, whatever it is.”
Footage of Biles, Ledecky and Richardson competing in Paris rolls through the video.
“Katie, Sha’Carri, and Simone,” Swift finishes. “Three American stars, three different visions of greatness, tonight in Paris.”
This promo video featuring Swift comes after Beyoncé lent her narration to a Paris Olympics promo earlier in the week. She saluted Biles, who is leading what she’s calling a “redemption tour” with her fellow U.S. gymnasts.
“Let’s talk about power, because really, that’s what this story is about. Physical power. It’s beauty, it’s wonder, the way it never stops amazing you,” Beyoncé says in the video. “Then there’s spiritual power, the kind that really matters. The power you can’t see, only sense. The power you need in those moments when life goes a little sideways on you.”
