Even though the duo was considered rivals at the collegiate level, Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso make up one of the most dangerous duos in the WNBA.
While Reese has been doing wonders with an average of 11.6 points, 1.9 steals, and an impressive 9.6 rebounds, her Sky teammate hasn’t really gotten the opportunity as she was sidelined due to a shoulder injury for a month.
But still, Cardoso’s words are nothing short of appreciation for Reese.
In a recent appearance, Cardoso was asked what it was like to “shift from college rivals to teammates with Angel Reese.”
Cardoso replied, via the NBC Sports Chicago interview, “Yeah, it’s been great…now that we are actually able to play together, being on the court together at the same time is amazing, and I’m just so happy watching her.”
She added, “She’s doing her thing. She brought her game and translated it very well from college to the WNBA, and I’m just proud of her. It just makes my heart warm to see how much we grow and how well we’re doing with each other,” making the amicable bond between Reese and her clear.
During this season’s WNBA draft, Cardoso was taken as the No. 3 overall pick, whereas Reese was selected at No. 7. Once the dynamic duo landed in the Sky, netizens started referring to them as “AK-15”.
But as Cardoso suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason game against Minnesota Lynx, she was out for the first six games this season.
Consequently, Reese didn’t get enough time to play with Cardoso. But what is Reese’s take on this partnership?
“Her hands are really great”: Reese on Cardoso
It seems like the duo has emptied out all rivalry seeds inside them. Just like Cardoso, Reese is quite confident about their partnership.
“Our duo is something that’s going to be here for a while. I’m here to stay, and I’m excited for our growth,” she said in an exclusive interview with the Chicago Sun-Times.

She added, “She runs the floor really well. At 6’7″, to see a post player run the floor that well, I’ve known that since high school, obviously. Her hands are really great.
She catches passes and makes baskets around the rim really fluidly. Her continuing to play and be consistent is going to allow her to continue to be great.”
As of now, Cardoso has played five games, four of which were losses, after making a comeback on June 1.
In these matchups, she was on the court for the highest 21 minutes against the Atlanta Dream.
Cardoso now averages 6.8 points, 1.0 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game. The question is then- will Reese and Cardoso be able to make a stronger comeback?
