French NBA player Victor Wembanyama, here at a press conference for the San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio Spurs (DR)

Victor Wembanyama is already an excellent NBA player, which is not necessarily the case for all of his teammates.

There should therefore be movement during the summer in San Antonio, and the name of a former All-Star was mentioned in Texas.

Let the rumors begin!

Next summer should be full of twists and turns in the NBA.

Indeed, some emerging teams will want to hit the market hard, others in decline will want to start again on a new project, which risks greatly reshuffling the cards.

And if we add to this the LeBron James file , who could well join Bronny after the Draft, several big names should change course.

Like every year, Los Angeles should be a major player in the league, with several players other than the King to watch.

For example, if he managed to convince before the February deadline, D’Angelo Russell could again be at the heart of rumors during the offseason.

And new destinations could appeal to him.

D’Angelo Russell perfect profile for Spurs?

It’s a subject that was discussed by Jeff Teague and his colleagues in the excellent “Club 520” podcast, and the former All-Star would see DLo joining Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio.

He thinks that the duo would work well, and above all that the current Laker would enjoy much more in a context which offers him more responsibilities.

I’ll be honest, D’Angelo Russell should have tried to stay in Brooklyn or on a team where he can be a star.

In Los Angeles he is important, but he comes behind LeBron and Anthony Davis. He will always be criticized.

But he’s such a good player, I think he needs to go to a franchise where he will be fully appreciated. In Los Angeles the fans are starting to like him because he is effective.

In big cities fans want big players, so the Lakers will prefer Trae Young…

Except there aren’t many teams left where he could be a star.

I really think D’Angelo Russell could be perfect in San Antonio. His duet with Victor Wembanyama would be very good.

DLo wouldn’t be a bad second option for the Spurs.

It’s a certainty, the Spurs will have to find a leader to support Victor Wembanyama next season, a player capable of finding him at the right tempo and in the right mood.

With D’Angelo Russell, the French pivot would have a new experienced, talented teammate, who knows the very high level, and who can also take on the load offensively.

A truly interesting profile.

Spurs leaders already see the gap in level between Victor Wembanyama and his young teammates, so they will have to look into the subject this summer.

Bringing in a D’Angelo Russell would already be a great progression for the group.
