“Thank You Angel Reese”: Ex-Celtics Coach Diminishes Caitlin Clark’s Impact to Give Her WNBA Rival the Flowers

The WNBA is going on in full-blown capacity. Both the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky are having sellout games. All thanks to their star Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. But who do you credit when both these teams play against each other? Do audiences come to watch Reese or do they make the game to get a glimpse of Clark?

On Friday, an ex-Celtics coach came forward to laud Reese, which to many looked as if he was diminishing the impact of Clark.

Evan Turner was present in a discussion with Andre Iguodala on the Point Forward when he lauded Reese for helping the Sky have sellout stadiums. While Reese’s fans were happy, it brought a sense of disappointment to the Clark admirers.

Evan Turner applauds Angel Reese

Turner stated that the game between Reese and Clark last Sunday had a sell-out crowd and that was also because of Reese. He did not shy away from stating Reese’s impact on the sport.

“Thank you, Angel! That’s part of you too. Angel that’s crazy… No, I’m saying because that’s why because when you starting to do like sellouts everywhere like Caitlin…I mean they played at Lucas Oil. Then they…they play at the football stadium. Oh, oh, I missed that was I missed it they went to the Sparks and um LA and that was like a $3500 for side,” Turner stated, via Point Forward podcast.

The Fever and the Sky had their latest game on Sunday at the Wintrust Arena. The Wintrust has a capacity of 10,387 people and was a complete sellout. As per Yahoo Sports, the ticket prices were as high as $9000 and hence this was the most expensive WNBA game.

This again brought forth the impact Reese has among her fans. Meanwhile, Clark in order to grow the WNBA recommended that the contest should have been played out at the United Center which can accommodate 23,500 people.

Meanwhile, Clark has also recorded a lot of sellouts. The Fever has been playing at the Lucas Oil Stadium and the Gainbridge Arena in Indianapolis.

Both of them have accommodation capacity of 70,000 and 18,000 people which is a great number for the WNBA.

Hence, the Fever is also growing exponentially. The result of this can be seen in higher projected revenue generation this year.

Meanwhile, on the game front, Reese is said to have taken over Clark by her game.

Angel Reese swooning all with her skills

Reese as per Stephen A. Smith is the frontrunner runner for the Rookie of the Year award. She has had 9 games of double-doubles and has adjusted well to the standards of the WNBA.

Furthermore, Reese has also formed a successful pair with Kamilla Cardoso.

Though the Sky lost their game against the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday, Reese and Cardoso stood out with 11 rebounds and 8 rebounds, respectively.

Now that Turner has credited Reese, it will be interesting to see which side other stars take. Meanwhile, Clark would be looking to up her ante to improve her game.

At the same time, Reese would be looking forward to sustaining what she has started. And the day is not far when they will play at the United Center.
