Is Caitlin Clark at Risk of WNBA Punishment for Conduct?
Is Caitlin Clark at Risk of WNBA Punishment for Conduct?Caitlin Clark is good.
And she’s good ‘n’ “spicy” … to the point that nine games into the rookie’s WNBA career, the Indiana Fever star might be on the verge of league “punishment.”
The Fever’s Thursday night loss against Seattle was a “chippy” affair, with physical play against Clark once again the norm.
A technical foul was assessed Clark along with way … but she might have to pay for it.
Thursday’s technical marked Clark’s third “T” in nine games and her second in the last two games. Coach Christie Sides has insisted that Clark cool it and leave the arguing to the coach …
“We’re spending too much time talking to the officials,” Sides said recently.” We’ve got to leave that alone. We’ve got to just play our game and let them do their job and not put it in their hands to make decisions that ultimately hurt us. We don’t want … we shouldn’t get technicals. Let me get the technicals. Let me go after the officials.”
That’s good advice, ultimately, because once a WNBA player gets seven techs in one season, she is suspended for a game. There are also fines connected, and there are these two factors, too …
One, Indy has a tough enough time winning with Clark, let alone with her suspended.
And two, she is the WNBA gravy train … and her absence from the court would mean an absence in league revenue.
So … maybe everybody better cool it.
