There were no surprises at the top of the 2024 WNBA Draft board. Iowa star Caitlin Clark is heading to Indianapolis to start her professional career.
The Indiana Fever selected Clark with the No. 1 overall pick on Monday night, setting the stage for one of the most highly anticipated rookie seasons in league history. Clark is coming off a senior campaign in which she broke the NCAA’s all-time scoring record and led the Hawkeyes to the national championship game, captivating millions of basketball fans across the country.

She will find herself in a much different position this summer, as the Fever finished with the third-worst record in the WNBA last season (13-27). The challenge for Clark will be adjusting to the pro level and helping Indiana climb up the standings.
Even accounting for a bit of a learning curve, the 22-year-old should not only provide an on-court boost for the team, but also throw the Fever into the national spotlight. Clark will undoubtedly increase team ticket and merchandise sales.
