It is no secret that former Los Angeles Lakers superstar center Shaquille O’Neal is a big supporter of Chicago Sky rookie forward Reese, so it’s also not that surprising to know that he’s all in on her WNBA Rookie of the Year candidacy.

Shaq showed her support for Reese again when he shared an Instagram Story showing a quote from women’s basketball legend Dawn Staley, who stated that so far in the 2024 WNBA season, the Sky star is leading Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark for the said award.

The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year race has added even more fuel to the competitive rivalry between Reese and Clark.

Both players have big roles on their respective teams, albeit different ones. Reese mostly does her damage on the court with her rebounding and presence inside, while Clark is seemingly doing it all for the Fever from scoring to finding her teammates on offense to securing boards.

On the season, Reese is leading the WNBA with 12.0 rebounds per game to go with 13.5 points and 1.5 steals per contest. Clark, on the other hand, is recording 16.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.9 blocks per outing.

Going deeper, Reese currently leads Clark in terms of Player Impact Estimate with a 12.9 PIE to Clark’s Clark 12.6.
