Fans troll Angel Reese after Sky rookie shoots 5-of-17 but keeps double-double streak alive

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has been making headlines for the past few weeks because of her great performances in the WNBA. She is on an incredible double-double streak, registering a double-double stat line in 15 consecutive games, extending her historic record to a length that may not be matched anytime soon.

However, some fans had a different perception of the situation. The official X/Twitter account of the WNBA made a post featuring Angel Reese and her double-double streak after the Sky’s game against the New York Liberty.

However, fans were quick to flood the comments section to highlight the Sky rookie’s mistakes. They criticized her for an abysmal shooting as she went 5-of-17 from the field and seemingly focused more on keeping her streak alive.

One fan called out the double-double record holder as “embarrassing”:

“That was as embarrassing as yesterday lol.”

Other fans hopped on the bandwagon and criticized the Chicago Sky rookie:

“Lol 5/17 from under the rim?” @nba77younger said.

“She’s killing the credibility of a double-double in a way I’ve never seen before,” @ScottKacsmar said.

“Once again half of the rebounds were off her own missed layups. Lmfao. What a fraud and you people are falling for it,” @brian70394 said.

While many fans criticized Reese for her poor showing in the game, some fans had her back and defended her:

“I speak for everyone when I say Angel face of the WNBA,” @alex_golflegend said.

“ROOKIE OF THE YEAR,” @chisportsross said.

Angel Reese keeps her double-double streak alive as Sky lose to Liberty

The Chicago Sky took on the New York Liberty at Barclays Center, ultimately losing 91-76 in the end. With this loss, the Sky are 9-13 and currently sit in seventh place in the WNBA standings. They are the third seed in the Eastern Conference behind New York and the Connecticut Sun.

Angel Reese ended the night with 10 points, 10 rebounds and dished out one assist against the Liberty. Chennedy Carter topped the scoring for Chicago with 22 points on the night.

Fans were left confused about Reese’s entry in the fourth as Kamilia Cardoso, who was playing better in that quarter, was benched for Resse. When she got her 10th rebound, Cardoso was subbed back in.

Meanwhile, for New York, Sabrina Ionescu led the charts for the Libery with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists to help Liberty to an easy win.

Reese and Co. will face New York Liberty once more on Saturday but on home court this time around at Wintrust Arena.
