It has been a tough first spell in the WNBA
Angel Reese is still adjusting to being an international sports star as she enjoys her first season in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky and unfortunately, she has found herself dealing with lots of racist messages.
Her mother has had more than enough and has publicly highlighted the problem that her daughter faces every day, hitting back at the nasty messages.

What makes it an even more delicate situation is that many of the messages appear to be coming from people who identify as Caitlin Clark fans.
What has to be made clear is that no behavior from Caitlin Clark has encouraged people to send racist messages to Angel Reese. The pair have got a sporting rivalry that was fostered in the NCAA and has carried over into the WNBA with Clark now playing for the Indiana Fever.
It is an individual decision to send a racist message to a player on social media.
The horrible messages
Reese’s mother sent former WNBA player Val Whiting a screenshot of two racially charged messages that seem to clearly be from Clark fans.
One message read: “Sorry but you can’t dress up as anything but you are what you are. thug comes to mind..,go Caitlin.”
The second message said: “Black b-th you disgust me with your silly jealous antics, let your daughter shine and [stop] teaching her to be jealous to get attention! Stop being a black ratchet gutter b-th s black women look bad, and stop talking about cc, she got that swag, she changing the game be glad your daughter got a chance to even play in the W!! Cuz if it wasn’t for cc nobody would know your low gpa having daughter.”
Whiting also felt it necessary to point out that Clark herself has received race-based hate in recent years.
“Please note that I realize Caitlin Clark has received race based hate as well. And some of that has come from Angel Reese stans but this post is about the extreme nature of what Angel Reese goes through,” she wrote.
