The WNBA is becoming increasingly popular.
How do we know that? Well, for starters, have you ever heard of men sliding into the social media direct messages of WNBA players before now? I didn’t think so.
The WNBA’s Angel Reese let the social media world in on her experience with “interacting” with fans, and by that, I mean thirsty men asking her to fly them out for her games.
Reese continues to see her celebrity status grow after being plenty recognizable following her time as an LSU Tiger in college
She was drafted with the 7th overall pick by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and she now finds herself locked in a “Rookie of the Year” battle with her old college nemesis… the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark.
Prior to this weekend, Angel Reese had an impressive double-double streak going, having at least 10 points and 10 rebounds in 15 straight games.
That streak snapped on Saturday, but another streak continues – the steady stream of weird, obsessed men asking Reese for free trips to come and visit her in the cities she plays in.
With almost 4 million followers on Instagram and TikTok combined, you’re going to get plenty of questionable messages from the social media world.
Reese is a certified star, and her “fans” are just expecting her to do what NBA stars typically do on their roadtrips (pay for some company to travel out with them).
It apparently even got to the point where the Chicago Sky forward felt as though she had no choice but to address the growing issue, reassuring everyone that she and her teammates are not interested in flying anyone out to be their dates:
“Let me just say something, because I just want to say one thing. The delusion that you all think I’m fixing to fly any of y’all out (to my games)… yeah that’s all I’m going to say. The delusion to think any one of us are flying y’all out? Be for real. Thank you.”
