Angel Reese vs Aliyah Boston: WNBA Fans Clash While Deciding Who’s Better Between Caitlin Clark’s Fever Teammate and Sky Starlet

Every day is a new opportunity, particularly for the WNBA stars, where each day the performances change their perception among fans. Recently the New York Times in its latest released rookie ratings positioned Caitlin Clark above Angel Reese.

And now after the Indiana Fever’s win against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, a fan came forward to opine that last year’s No.1 pick and Clark’s teammate, Aliyah Boston, is a better player than Angel Reese as well. Her opinion has divided the league’s admirers.

Maybe the fan thought that this was going to be a peculiar opinion and labeled it as unpopular. The view came to the fore after Boston played one of the best WNBA games this season against the Lynx at the Target Center last night.

Boston was the second-highest scorer for her team with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Thus she hit her ninth double-double of this season and second in a row.

So far, the 2023 Rookie of the Year has averaged 13.5 points with 8.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game this season. Meanwhile, Reese has averaged 13.5 points with 12 rebounds per game.

Boston, though low on assists, has played the role of a secondary star whenever the situation has demanded, whereas Reese leads the rebounds average in the W.

Much like Clark this time, Boston was drafted as the first overall pick last year. She has been giving her best for the Fever since last season. Meanwhile, Reese was drafted as the seventh overall pick this season.

Since the two belong to different years, deciding on the better player comes with its own challenges. This caused confusion among fans who posted their belief on social media and clashed against each other.

Fans give their respective takes on Aliyah Boston and Angel Reese

“Popular opinion: Aliyah Boston is in her second year, Angel Reese is a rookie. They play two different positions,” one of the fans posted. The user pointed out the fact that Boston was drafted in 2023 whereas Reese made it to the league this year.

Hence, as per the user, Boston got the time to adjust to the WNBA and her team as she has played one complete season. Meanwhile, Reese is completely new to the league and is experiencing such tough competition for the first time.

“I think Boston is a better offensive player in regards to scoring but rebounding and defending I have to give it to Reese,” another fan pointed out the fact while Boston and Reese both average 13.5 points per game, the former can edge past Reese in the offensive game.

However, Reese leads the WNBA in rebounding with 12 rebounds per game. A rookie leading the league in a major statistical category? Doesn’t happen often in any sport.

“She was a top college player and rookie of the year last year in wnba. I’m not mad at this opinion,” another netizen stated. The social media user pointed out the fact that Boston was the first overall pick last season and also took home the Rookie of the Year award.

During her time with the South Carolina Gamecocks, Boston averaged 14.1 points per game with 10.8 rebounds per game and also clinched the Championship in 2022. On the other side, Reese also won a National Championship and is in the mix for the ROTY award.

“Angel is stronger down low and better rebounder but AB is just more skilled at the position. Good rebounder and much better finisher at the rim,” the user stated.

As mentioned before, Reese leads the rebounds average in the W but Boston is better than Reese in her shooting skills. This season Boston has hit 52% field goals as opposed to Reese’s 40.2%.

Plus Boston, according to the user, is superior to Reese inside the paint. “This isn’t an opinion, it’s fact. Boston makes shots,” another netizen stated.

Perhaps, the upcoming games will give a better view of whether Boston is better than Reese. Till then, both the stars can go with their practice as fans share their respective takes on their game.
