Dallas Wings All-Star Satou Sabally sent a supportive message towards Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark amid all the negativity and toxicity surrounding her name.
Along with it, she also issued a stern reminder to those who want to bring her down.
Clark has been making headlines over the past couple of months ever since she arrived in the WNBA.
There are those who are even criticizing her for not taking an active role in speaking out against various problems that affect the WNBA–including the issue of “white privilege,” which many claim the Fever rookie is benefiting from.
Sabally, during her recent appearance on the Podcast P show, emphasized her belief that it’s unfair to put “that much pressure on a young woman to be a spokesperson for things that the United States and really globally that we have struggled with as an entire society.”

“To make her a spokesperson for that is a lot. But can you talk about white privilege? Yes you can. But do you have to be the spokesperson for it? I don’t think so,” Sabally added.
The WNBA forward also sent a powerful message of appreciation and support for Clark, while also taking a shot to those players and critics who are secretly wishing that she doesn’t succeed.
“I do think she’s doing a great job and I would just tell her, ‘I’m proud of you, keep doing your thing and try to blend out the noise.’ … What I hope for her is that she still knows there’s a community of women around her that want her to succeed,” Sabally said.
“Not everyone wants someone to fail. If you want someone to fail, you’re jealous, you’re not great if you want someone else to fail because you can’t prove your own greatness.”
Satou Sabally certainly couldn’t have said it any better. She’s being realistic while also being supportive and not trying to put anyone down.
As Caitlin Clark tries to navigate through her new life in the WNBA, it’s certainly great to see players like Sabally back her up instead of criticizing everything she does or doesn’t do.
