Loose Women star, Ruth Langsford, is returning to Loose Women next week, after it was announced she was splitting up with her husband, Eamonn Holmes, in May

Ruth Langsford is returning to Loose Women next week following her split with Eamonn Holmes.

The presenter, 64, has been absent from the show since April before it was revealed she had called time on her marriage to the father-of-four, also 64.

Ruth has kept quiet about the break-up up until now, however she feels like she ‘owes’ the Loose Women viewers an explanation as she rejoins the panel, according to reports.

A source has revealed that while it will be incredibly emotional for the presenter, who shares son, Jack, 22, with Eamonn, she is a professional, and knows she can’t return to television without addressing her three-month absence.

Speaking about her return, a TV insider told MailOnline Loose Women will be the only show on which Ruth addresses her split, revealing: “Ruth knows the viewers are heavily invested in her breakup so she will be addressing her and Eamonn for the first time on the show.

“The audience has been there through the highs and the lows of her relationship, she has always been very open and honest and next week will be no different… she owes it to the viewers to say something.

“She will be surrounded by the people she’s closest to on the show and then will be drawing a line under it… she has no plans to do a big interview, this will be the one and only time she speaks.”

It comes after Eamonn revealed he was struggling to walk in a worrying post on Instagram, after telling the Mirror he felt as if he was on “borrowed time” at the TRIC Awards.

Sharing a photo of himself on the weekend, leaning against a doorframe, he told fans his mobility was a serious concern as he shared a worrying caption, which read: “Hard to stand up, but next aim is to walk off to a birthday party today. What about you?”

Eamonn’s fans flocked to support him following the post, with many congratulating him for how well he was doing. One said: “You’re doing well Eamonn, keep it up xx” while another advised: “Keep moving Eamonn, as painful as it may be. Every little movement is of benefit.”

The update comes after the GB News star was struggling with chronic back pain, which saw him require a high-tech wheelchair at the recent TRIC Awards. Eamonn told the Mirror he felt as if he was on “borrowed time”, as his father died at the age of 65 from a heart attack in 1991.

The former This Morning host has battled multiple heath issues over the past few years, before he and Ruth announced they were ending their marriage. The veteran TV host is reportedly leaning on several female friends in the wake of his split, which sent shockwaves through the showbiz industry.

According to Best magazine, the star would like to become friends with Ruth – eventually – as he responded when asked about the status of their relationship: “It’s too early to say, but I hope we can still be friends.”
