Former LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese had a brilliant collegiate career before moving to the WNBA in the 2024 draft as the No. 7 pick by the Chicago Sky. With the WNBA All-Star Game set to happen on July 20 in Phoenix, she is making a case to be a part of the roster.
Recently, the LSU Academic Center made a post urging fans to vote for Reese to be part of the All-Star roster, presenting her as their Student-Athlete of the Month (June 2024). Reese reposted the Instagram post while reminiscing about her old LSU days.
“Lil miss graduateee,” she wrote in her story.

Reese will potentially be part of the WNBA All-Star team to take on the USA Olympics team with other big names like Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson, who are leading in the fan votes. (Wilson is on Team USA.)
“A lot of hypotheticals. I think both of us would probably tell you our focus is on playing basketball, and if that works out for the both of us, great, that would be a lot of fun – we’ve never played together,” Clark told CBS Sports.
Clark was the No. 1 pick by the Indiana Fever in April and is averaging 16.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg, and 6.6 apg.
Angel Reese calls her family her main motivation to succeed
In the Monday post made by LSU Academic Center, the school shared Angel Reese’s recent interview with Dorothy J. Gentry where she talked about what keeps her motivated.
“Just being able to be where I’m from,” Reese said. “I’m from Baltimore. My mom is a single mom. Being able to raise two kids. I mean, I just graduated. My mom wouldn’t have been able to pay for college for me and my brother without me being on athletic scholarships and academic scholarships.
“I’m blessed. My mom had no student loans, my brother’s graduation in December. So, being able to walk away from that, that’s all I ever wanted in life. Me and my mom, we have a really close relationship. It’s just me, my mom and my brother. It has always been. That’s my motivation.”
After having a difficult time at home, it can be said that Reese with her talent and hard work has made things easy for herself and her family. After all, she is living her ultimate dream of playing in the WNBA and is expected to do more in the coming years.
